'Find the 'Magic'

A new brief arrives, a blank canvas. How does one start?

I call the initial creative process the intense phase, spending time bringing all elements of the design

together and finding  'the magic' which is an element unique to that scheme before the ideas can 'drop'

onto the canvas. Once the 'project magic' is in place I proceed with enthusiasm, pace and passion.

You had great vision Judy and were a  pleasure to work with. It was such a fun project and you have an outstanding eye.

My Story

I started my professional career many years ago as a producer in the film industry, delivering commercial productions on time and in budget. This grounding was invaluable and has assisted greatly over the years with the management of Interior projects. Wanting to add the creative side, I then spent time studying Interior Design and my first project was a 40 bed game lodge in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, putting the combined skills to use. Over the years in South Africa I gained an enormous amount of experience running my own hospitality and residential projects, being part of a large architectural and interior design practise, working on the glitzy interiors of casinos and hotels. After arriving in the UK 15 years ago I joined a hospitality Interior Design practise and again found myself in remote parts, working on the early stages of a hotel in Cheboksary, Russia. I was fortunate to then work under John Stefandis, a master of colour and design, discovering the interiors world of Country Homes, Estates and London Residences.

For the last ten years I have been working on residential projects in a variety of styles and scope. I love a challenge and am deadline driven, applying the same discipline to a large presentation as a project of a smaller scope. The past two years have largely been filled with structural renovations, intense bespoke bathroom, kitchen and joinery designs, supplying detailed specification sheets for these designs and project management. These are key elements of what I call 'Renovation Preparation' which is essential when started on a new project.  The concepts are presented through hand sketches and mood boards and there have been exciting results. Once this framework is in place I do enjoy adding the ‘layering’ with a love of fabrics, furnishings, lighting and all the fabulous finishing touches.

I offer a hands on, communicative and interactive service, handling every detail with utmost care and practical consideration. Working together is important and ongoing client relationships are a priority.

Whether it’s a large or smaller scale project, passion for the project is key and I strive to give 110%.

Your attention to detail and innovative suggestions, tackling/solving problematic areas is to be commended.

Thank you for your vital input.
